The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge were both amazing devices… but they still were apparently sales disappointments for Samsung. No matter, because Samsung is already looking forward to its next big thing that will release in 2016: The Galaxy S7.
PhoneArena
draws our attention to some leaked internal Samsung documents that show
us Samsung is testing out a version of the Galaxy S7 right now that’s
running with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. This is interesting
because Samsung went with its own chipset for the Galaxy S6 instead of
one of Qualcomm’s — a wise choice, it turned out, because Qualcomm’s
Snapdragon 810 was notorious in early versions for having major
overheating problems. That Samsung is testing out the 820 on the S7,
however, suggests the company is at least thinking of giving Qualcomm
another shot.
PhoneArena
also notes that Samsung has launched a new production initiative called
“Agile” that aims to speed up how quickly new phones are released. This
means that we might get to see the Galaxy S7 earlier in 2016 than we
expected, as Samsung seems determined to have a new phone out before the
start of Mobile World Congress next year.
